What Is An All Inclusive Cruise Vacation?
If you have been thinking about a European cruise then you’ve probably heard the phrase all inclusive cruise bandied about. As the name implies this is a voyage where just about everything – accommodation, food, drinks, entertainment and activities – is included in the price you pay upfront. This, of course, sounds like a fantastic thing. Not only do you have all these perks without paying an extra dime, but it makes it much easier to budget for your trip, because you already know the bulk of the cost up front. However, there are some caveats you should be aware of before blindly going ahead and booking an all inclusive cruise vacation package.
First of all, find out what is actually included in the price. Lots of deals include drinks such as soda and juice, but don’t include alcoholic beverages. If you plan to drink a lot over the course of your trip then you’d best make sure you find a cruise package where the alcohol is included. Many of the high end, smaller luxury cruise lines like Cunard, Crystal, Regent and Silversea offer bar drinks as part of your deal.
On the other side of the coin, make sure your all inclusive cruise doesn’t include too much. This might sound counterintuitive. I mean, what’s the problem with having too much included? The problem is that everything that is packaged in comes with a cost. You don’t want to pay a premium for things like entertainment, activities or the aforementioned alcoholic beverages if you don’t plan to partake. If this is the case then you are essentially throwing your money away, and would be better off traveling a la carte. Though it makes it a bit more difficult to predict your travel costs, the odds are that in your particular case those travel costs may wind up being significantly lower.
If you have a flexible travel schedule don’t forget to look for last minute cruise deals, or even some off-season travel packages. A winter European cruise has plenty of adventure to offer as well, and you can often find deeply discounted prices, and have the added bonus of not having to deal with the large crowds of fellow tourists that you would see in the high season.
By taking all these factors into account you can quickly discern if an all inclusive cruise vacation is the right option for you. Make sure to do your research, both at local travel agencies and on the internet, to find the best deal to fit your needs.
