Your European Cruise - Which One Should You Choose?
A European cruise sounds like a dream vacation to most, yet when it comes to planning your trip it can be quite daunting once you discover all the choices available to you. Any cruise in Europe has the potential to be magical, and all offer breathtaking historic flavor. Before you get too far ahead of yourself you need to sit down and decide exactly what you want to see and do on your cruise.
A Mediterranean cruise is the most popular option by far for travelers from abroad, but even if you’ve decided that you want to see the Mediterranean by luxury cruise ship you’ve still got some research to do.
A Western Mediterranean cruise will have you visiting the Strait of Gilbraltar which separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. The most likely ports include Italy, France and Spain, but you may also have the chance to visit Morocco, Portugal or Croatia. There are literally hundreds of different cruise combinations you can choose from, and you will need to do your homework to find the cruise package that meets with your interests. Shore excursions offer the opportunity to see incredible culture and history up close, and if you love to eat and drink there are no shortage of fine dining restaurants to tempt your palate.
An Eastern Mediterranean cruise offers different ports of call, but there is just as much to see and do if you opt for this journey. Archaeological wonders abound throughout the Eastern Mediterranean and with stops in Athens, Greece and Istanbul, Turkey you will have the opportunity to see some of the most magnificent art and architecture from ancient history. Valletta, located on the island of Malta, has become an increasingly popular destination with European cruise tourists in recent years with spectacular palaces and churches to be seen in this well preserved city.
Mediterranean cruises may be the most popular but they are just a fraction of the options available to you. A Baltic cruise, or a Scandinavian voyage are also popular choices, and if you are looking to try something a little different then a European river cruise might just fit the bill.
